With the everyday stresses of life sometimes taking their toll on us, going to sleep isn’t the easiest of tasks so here are some small things you can do to try and drift off a little easier!
1. Reed diffusers – We all know that candles are very relaxing and create that ‘zen’ atmosphere but you obviously can’t go to sleep with a candle burning because 1. your house might burn down and 2. worrying about the candle burning your house down while you sleep defeats the whole idea of trying to get a peaceful and good night’s sleep. So, go out and get a reed diffuser! They last a lot longer than candles, are a lot safer and look reaaaallly nice. I love the Yankee Candles diffusers which you can get here if you’re interested!
2. Skincare & facial massages – Going to bed with a cleansed face can work wonders and even applying moisturiser and night creams can be relaxing but try giving yourself a facial massage. I like to try and do this once a week with just raw coconut oil and if you’re not sure how to go about it, then watch Lisa Eldridge’s video all about it here!
3. Jot down your thoughts in a journal – If your worries are what’s keeping you awake at night, jot them down! I’ve mentioned the ‘One line a day’ journal before which you can buy here which is really good because there are enough entry slots for each day of the year to last for 5 years meaning that you can revisit your thoughts whenever you want!
4. Don’t stress – The whole ‘if I go to sleep now, I’ll get 6 hours and 14 minutes of sleep’ is never going to work and it will just make the situation even worse so just don’t worry. Maybe take on board one of the suggestions above and things might just work out for you!
