The ‘No Makeup Makeup Look’ with ILIA Beauty

While it’s easy to be swept away into a flurry of beauty products that have achieved cult status, the big brands with even bigger budgets and fall financial victim to those much-hyped products, discovering exciting and somewhat under the radar brands can be a breath of fresh air. I was very kindly recently sent a generous box full of goodies from ILIA Beauty for me to try out and I can honestly admit to the fact that I haven’t been this enthusiastic about a new brand in a long while. Dedicated to creating the purest products possible, ILIA offers ethically derived, organic ingredients that are housed in sustainable and recycled aluminium packaging.

As my way of paying homage to ILIA Beauty’s commitment to natural formulas, I thought I’d put together a natural, no-makeup-makeup look!

The vivid foundation is a fairly emollient formula but the finish is extremely natural, in the way that it sits somewhere in between a dewy and a matte finish. I couldn’t find any mention of SPF within this foundation but as always, I scanned over the ingredients list and found titanium dioxide, which acts as a sunscreen agent. Fab!

Concealer isn’t something I gravitate towards on a day-to-day basis but I was pleasantly surprised by how lightweight the formula is of ILIA’s concealer. The addition of coconut oil makes for a really hydrating formula and while this is a great one for those who, like myself, prefer a light coverage concealer or are wanting to achieve a no-makeup-makeup look, this might not be up your street if you’re a NARS creamy radiant or MAC concealer kinda gal. The real star of the show for me, though, comes in the form of their polka dots & moonbeams illuminator. As an avid cream highlighter fanatic, this is one of the best cream formulas I’ve ever used. It provides a beautifully glossy sheen but is practically undetectable

It provides a beautifully glossy sheen but is practically undetectable on the skin as it just seems to melt onto the complexion. This shade in particular, is fantastic for fair skin!

For eyes, I lightly applied the rebel rebel pure eyeliner to my upper lash line to give the illusion of a thicker lash bed and for some added definition and applied a light coat of the nightfall mascara.

Inspired by the colours of India and Pakistan, this ‘pink kashmir’ lipstick looks like an almost fluorescent pink on first appearance but, when applied lightly and blotted down, it can be toned down to a natural looking pink. I applied some clear lip balm over the top to keep everything looking fresh.
